Stanford Alumni Startups New YorkPepper Health NYC, and Early Stage Founders are delighted to host a panel discussion and mixer highlighting the perspectives of four clinicians who are founders and leaders in early health startups. The panel will feature Drs. Julia Jezmir of ConcertoCare, Raihan Faroqui of Guaranteed Health, Ami Kumordzie of Sika Health, and Amy Wu of Antelope Surgical. Discussion will be moderated by Dr. Hillary Lin of Curio Health.

Stanford Alumni Startups New York (SASNY) is a Stanford Alumni group that strengthens Stanford startups by fostering a community of entrepreneurs and investors in NY. SASNY offers entrepreneurs an opportunity to interact with fellow entrepreneurs and investors, and get feedback, mentorship and support. Early Stage Founders is a free community for founders in the ideation, pre-seed, and seed stages. Members get access to a private Slack, events, curated and discounted resources, and more. Our mission is to provide a safe space for entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate, and learn together – because we all need support going from zero to one.

SPEAKERS:

Hillary Lin, MD is a Stanford-trained physician and Co-founder and CEO of Curio, a psychedelics healthcare company building accessible and science-based tech and clinical services. Dr. Lin is board-certified in internal medicine and is a published author in the areas of neuroscience, internal medicine, mental health, and oncology. Her mission is to bring transformative, scientific, and accessible change to healthcare.

Amy Wu, MD, FACS is a Stanford Med graduate, board-certified ENT surgeon, founder and CEO of Antelope Surgical Solutions, a seed phase, pre-IND pharma/biotech startup with proprietary manufacturing and IP for multifunctional drugs radioligand-targeted diagnosis, image-guided surgery, and therapy of numerous diseases, starting with prostate cancer. Dr. Wu has been involved with the development of this technology since her research year with 2008 Chemistry Nobel Laureate Dr. Roger Tsien. Her goal is to advance the field of surgery with novel compounds used to trace margins of cancers.

Raihan Faroqui, MD is an Internal Medicine doctor and serial early-stage digital health startup operator, advisor, and consultant. He currently serves as Head of Medical Affairs at Guaranteed, a VC-backed seed-stage startup scaling tech-enabled in-home hospice care delivery aiming to modernize the end of life experience for patients, family and caregivers. He sits on the advisory board of 3 VC-backed SaaS and tech-enabled services startups (Azra Care - Orthopedics; Diagnoss - EMR Workflow; SmartDoctor - Employee Health). He also founded Connectify Health, a leading digital health boutique strategy consultancy that provides fundraising, talent acquisition, growth/sales strategy, product development, and operational advisory. He has worked with 20+ early-stage CEOs in the last 4 years, and helped numerous startups raise VC funding, hire talent, build MVPs, and sell into providers, payors, and employers.

Ami Kumordzie, MD/MBA, is a Stanford Medicine grad now turned Founder/CEO of Sika Health, a seed-stage payments company that’s reinventing the way we pay for health. Their initial product enables consumers to spend FSA/HSA funds at any retailer through an embedded payment solution similar to Stripe. Ami’s team consists of former payments engineering leaders from Etsy, and they are backed by world-class investors / advisors including Forerunner Ventures, former Klarna CTO, and the former founders of Plaid. Prior to Sika Health, Ami was a Management consultant in BCG’s San Francisco office where she supported a variety of clients across the healthcare industry ranging from health systems to biopharma to global health non-profits. She also worked at Becton Dickinson, a leader in the medical device space, building a novel digital health platform designed to reduce hospital-acquired infections.

Julia Jezmir, MD, MBA is a Stanford Med and GSB grad and is a primary care physician with a background in value-based care and digital health. She currently serves in a dual role as the VP of ACO REACH & GPC Growth and the New York Associate Medical Director with ConcertoCare, an in-home value-based primary care provider for seniors and adults with complex care needs. She previously co-founded a tele-physical therapy startup and has expertise in value-based care performance and digital health working with health plans and provider groups, including Blue Shield of California, Devoted Health, Atrius Health, and Lyra Health. Julia also serves as an advisor for Koltin, a startup building the first dedicated health insurance company for seniors and their families in Mexico.
