4/15: Stanford Startups Office Hours

Let's be honest - we never really learn at lectures. It was all about office hours. In this spirit, we're hosting a new monthly series: Stanford Startups Office Hours.

We will have "TAs" available to answer questions - we’re here to talk about new ideas, frame priorities and opportunities, think through tough strategic questions, test new products and provide objective feedback for the issues keeping you up at night.

Come with real challenges you're facing and connect with other alumni.

This month’s TAs will be:

Andrew Bein has spent over 30 years as an entrepreneur developing unique products into profitable services.  Now running training platform Brand Intros (www.brandintros.com), he actively advises and invests in startups.  He has significant experience using direct-marketing practices to inexpensively define and test new initiatives. Exits include sixdegrees ($125mm), InterActive Search Holdings ($343mm), answers.com ($127mm), fotolog.com ($90mm).  SB from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MBA from Stanford University.  Enjoys trail running, triathlons, and music.

Zack Arnold is the co-founder of The Perfect Jean. He is also president of Six Lincoln LLC., a wholesale apparel company that operates under licenses such as Kenneth Cole and Paper Denim & Cloth. He is an active e-commerce/logistic investor, including recent investments in Airhouse, Nadine West, Northbeam.io, and The Hedgehog Company. His primary areas of expertise are failing quickly, lean operations, not relying on VC money, digital ad spend, branding, the apparel supply chain, and licensing.

Mark Tonkelowitz is the co-founder of Maison Miru, a direct-to-consumer jewelry brand known for its thoughtfully designed, 24/7 wearable pieces. Before diving into fashion, Mark was an engineer and engineering manager at Facebook, where he led the News Feed team and worked on Local Search. His expertise spans all things Shopify and performance marketing. With a passion for combining creativity with data-driven strategies, Mark is all about scaling brands while keeping them personal and fun.

Trisha Okubo is the founder and creative director of Maison Miru, the unisex system of jewelry designed to unlock your creativity. In her prior life, she worked in product management and business operations at media and ecommerce companies, where she launched the eBay Facebook app and led product strategy for the eBay global homepage. Areas of expertise include building direct to consumer retail brands, real world product management and operations, branding and creative direction, and bootstrapping high growth companies.

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 15th from 6-8pm.

We are a volunteer run non-profit organization connecting Stanford alumni entrepreneurs, investors, and the startup community in New York.

Stanford Angels & Entrepreneurs (SA&E) is a community of 2000+ alumni, faculty and students in the SF bay area advancing entrepreneurship and innovation. SA&E strengthens Stanford's startup community by fostering a pay-it-forward spirit and building relationships among entrepreneurs, faculty and alumni investors. We leverage the power of entrepreneurship, technology, and business model innovation to serve the Stanford community and society. Our community approach creates diverse opportunities for professional development, mentoring, and angel investing.

Stanford Angels & Entrepreneurs United connects the startup ecosystem across the country's innovation centers beyond California with regular remote programming and opportunities. Entrepreneurs often face a lonely journey, which for some, intensified during the pandemic. Launched remote-first in Spring 2020, we strive to support them along the way by bringing together other founders, talent, business partners and supporters. With virtual programming, we serve the Stanford community at large regardless of location and have grown to over 950 alumni members. We foster relationships through education, mentorship and investment opportunities.

Stanford Alumni in Sustainability (SAS) is building a cross-cutting, intergenerational community of alumni interested in environmental, climate and sustainable development. Our 635+ member group holds social and educational gatherings for members on topics of interest and is a network to connect alumni and current students with advice, mentorship and professional opportunities.

6/28: Stanford Startups Office Hours

Let's be honest - we never really learn at lectures. It was all about office hours. In this spirit, we're hosting a new monthly series: Stanford Startups Office Hours.

We will have "TAs" available to answer questions - we’re here to talk about new ideas, frame priorities and opportunities, think through tough strategic questions, test new products and provide objective feedback for the issues keeping you up at night.

Come with real challenges you're facing and connect with other alumni.

This month’s TAs will be:

Nick Chen is a product designer and the co-founder and CEO of Pico, the business platform for creators. Named to the Forbes 30 Under 30, he started the company in 2016 to enable the economic empowerment of the educators, entertainers, and storytellers who represent a new generation of entrepreneurs. Outside of working on Pico, Nick sings in the NYC a cappella group The Workshop.

Andrew Bein has spent over 30 years as an entrepreneur developing unique products into profitable services.  Now running Bev Intros, he actively advises and invests in startups.
